Startup messenger dienst Kik was voornemens om Ethereum te gaan gebruiken of zijn diensten op te lanceren. Eigenaar Ted Livingston ziet hier toch vanaf, omdat hij in Ethereum geen potentieel ziet. Ethereum zou het aantal gebruikers niet kunnen ondersteunen, en er zijn nog wat problemen. Ted heeft daarom besloten om Stellar als platform te gebruiken.

Vanuit Onetime zagen we al eerder problemen tijdens de lancering van CryptoKitties: deze poezenhype zorgde voor een platlegging van het ethereum netwerk. Dit zou niet moeten kunnen.
